It was built in 2000 and is home to the Kootenay Ice ice hockey team. The arena at the Recplex hosts the Kootenay Ice hockey team which competes in the Western Hockey League. The Recplex also includes A&W, a candy shop, and card/hockey shop and a swimming pool with a wave pool, sauna and a waterslide. Several events and concerts have been held in the Rec Plex like April Wine, Bryan Adams, Terri Clark, Bob Dylan, George Canyon, B.B. King, Blue Rodeo, Jason McCoy, Paul Brandt, The Moffats, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, George Jones, Randy Travis, and ZZ Top. There has also been several practices from the Vancouver Canucks, and a large show by the Superdogs, there has also been a few sold out monster truck shows, and also a little more than a few of Champions of Skating performances, and Husky Skate the Nation performances.
